Things have been going good...
Current mood: passionate
Category: passionate Jobs, Work, Careers

Hey all,

I wanted to give you an update for those of you who haven't heard from me in awhile.

In April, a couple brilliant friends of mine and I set about starting a business dealing with technology, advertising and the college market.  It is called Adiqus.  Well, we created a business plan and built a team... and yesterday, we engaged a venture capital firm that dedicated to getting us a couple million to do things right.

It all starts with a goal and belief that you can obtain the goal.  It also involves surrounding yourself with high-quality people that don't bring you down.

Fly with the eagles not the turkeys.  My long term goal is to help create 1000 millionaires, so hopefully this is a vital step moving me towards the realization of that goal.

Thanks to everyone for all their support.

Much love-

Travis

Winning is a Habit. Unfortunately, So is Losing.
Category: Life

by Vince Lombardi

Winning is not a sometime thing. You don't win once-in-a-while. You don't do things right once-in-a-while. You do them right all the time.

Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing. There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that is first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game–but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be the first in anything we do and to win, and to win, and to win.

Every time a football player goes out to play, he's got to play from the ground up. From the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's okay - you've got to be smart to be number one in my business. But, more important, you've got to play with your heart. With every fiber of your body. If you are lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second.

Running a football team is no different from running any other kind of organization–an army, a political party, a business. The problems are the same. The objective is to win. To beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is.

It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive team. That's why they're here–to compete. They know the rules and the objectives when they get in the game. The objective is to win–fairly, squarely, decently, by the rules–but to win. And in truth, I have never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, did not appreciate the grind–the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for…needs…discipline and the harsh reality of head-to-head combat.

I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man, or that men must be brutalized to be competitive. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hours, his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle victorious.

10 Rules for Being Human
Current mood: chipper
Category: Life

Rule One - You will receive a body. Whether you love it or hate it, it's yours for life, so accept it. What counts is what's inside.
personal development
Rule Two
- You will be presented with lessons. Life is a constant learning experience, which every day provides opportunities for you to learn more. These lessons specific to you, and learning them 'is the key to discovering and fulfilling the meaning and relevance of your own life'.

Rule Three - There are no mistakes, only lessons. Your development towards wisdom is a process of experimentation, trial and error, so it's inevitable things will not always go to plan or turn out how you'd want. Compassion is the remedy for harsh judgement - of ourselves and others. Forgiveness is not only divine - it's also 'the act of erasing an emotional debt'. Behaving ethically, with integrity, and with humour - especially the ability to laugh at yourself and your own mishaps - are central to the perspective that 'mistakes' are simply lessons we must learn.
..more-->
Rule Four
- The lesson is repeated until learned. Lessons repeat until learned. What manifest as problems and challenges, irritations and frustrations are more lessons - they will repeat until you see them as such and learn from them. Your own awareness and your ability to change are requisites of executing this rule. Also fundamental is the acceptance that you are not a victim of fate or circumstance - 'causality' must be acknowledged; that is to say: things happen to you because of how you are and what you do. To blame anyone or anything else for your misfortunes is an escape and a denial; you yourself are responsible for you, and what happens to you. Patience is required - change doesn't happen overnight, so give change time to happen.

Rule Five - Learning does not end. While you are alive there are always lessons to be learned. Surrender to the 'rhythm of life', don't struggle against it. Commit to the process of constant learning and change - be humble enough to always acknowledge your own weaknesses, and be flexible enough to adapt from what you may be accustomed to, because rigidity will deny you the freedom of new possibilities.

Rule Six - "There" is no better than "here". The other side of the hill may be greener than your own, but being there is not the key to endless happiness. Be grateful for and enjoy what you have, and where you are on your journey. Appreciate the abundance of what's good in your life, rather than measure and amass things that do not actually lead to happiness. Living in the present helps you attain peace.

Rule Seven - Others are only mirrors of you. You love or hate something about another person according to what love or hate about yourself. Be tolerant; accept others as they are, and strive for clarity of self-awareness; strive to truly understand and have an objective perception of your own self, your thoughts and feelings. Negative experiences are opportunities to heal the wounds that you carry. Support others, and by doing so you support yourself. Where you are unable to support others it is a sign that you are not adequately attending to your own needs.

Rule Eight - What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. Take responsibility for yourself. Learn to let go when you cannot change things. Don't get angry about things - bitter memories clutter your mind. Courage resides in all of us - use it when you need to do what's right for you. We all possess a strong natural power and adventurous spirit, which you should draw on to embrace what lies ahead.

Rule Nine - Your answers lie inside of you. Trust your instincts and your innermost feelings, whether you hear them as a little voice or a flash of inspiration. Listen to feelings as well as sounds. Look, listen, and trust. Draw on your natural inspiration.

Rule Ten - You will forget all this at birth. We are all born with all of these capabilities - our early experiences lead us into a physical world, away from our spiritual selves, so that we become doubtful, cynical and lacking belief and confidence. The ten Rules are not commandments, they are universal truths that apply to us all. When you lose your way, call upon them. Have faith in the strength of your spirit. Aspire to be wise - wisdom the ultimate path of your life, and it knows no limits other than those you impose on yourself.

Tune into the Vibration of Your Choice.
Current mood: calm
Category: Life

vibration

Ok, this is a trip. I was listening to a Bob Proctor audio series that I found, and he left a great tidbit of knowledge. Bob said something along the lines of whenever we are 'feeling' bad, we are tuned into a negative vibration. Whenever we are feeling good or extraordinary, we are tuned into a positive vibration.

So all we have to do is to change our emotional frequency and focus on something that brings to us a positive vibration.

The whole universe is vibrational. An amazing concept to wrap your mind around is that deep down, we are all just protons, neutrons and electrons… microscopic vibrations. Each cell of our body is composed of only energy.

Also, the earth rotates on its axis once each day. Since the circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles, a spot on the equator rotates at approximately 1037.5646 miles per hour. So all the time, we are spinning at over 1,000 mph. But wait, we are also cruising around the sun at nearly 68,000 miles an hour. We are very, very small and we are going very, very fast.

"We are very, very small and we are going very, very fast."

On top of the incredible speed we are going, we have all these invisible forces to deal with. Gravity, magnetic forces, radio waves, and all types of other vibrations flowing around us nonstop. If we don't stop and tune into the right vibration, we can get lost in all the commotion.

Bob Proctor said that when you are feeling bad and sick, that you are in a negative vibration. Sometimes, it's hard to get out of that funk. When you are in this funk, it is extremely difficult to attract a positive vibration. In fact, it repels that vibration.

You ever play with a magnet and try to put the stubborn sides of the magnet together? No luck, flip it around though, and voile! I liken this to the same principle. Like attracts like.

When you are feeling 'extraordinary', you are sending out a certain type of vibrational frequency. You send it out, and more of the same will flow you way.

So, the moral of this blog post is… if you are feeling bad, change your emotional radio station to one with a positive vibe. Life moves too fast to be stuck in a bad vibrational frequency. Meditate. Slow down. And tune into a positive vibration and set your intentions in this space. The results will astound you!

MySpace Bug Finally Fixed, so, Here is an UrbanJonez Update for you
Current mood: chipper
Category: Life

Hope all is well in your world.  Finally, I have been released from the shackles of MySpace Bugitude.  For over 2 1/2 months, I was unable to send an email, or a comment... and some people asked me why I was "No Longer a Member".  Well, MySpace had some serious bugs to say the least.

Since the bug-a-thon, I have dedicated much of my free time to two projects.  CultivateGreatness.com, obviously, and TimeCheeze.com.

I was originally a bit distraught over TimeCheeze and the content we would find online.  See, we built a Media Search Lab that scours the net and finds the links to funny videos online.  Right now, we have over 35,000 videos indexed in our Search Lab.  However, it would also find all the pr0n videos, which was a bit discouraging.

So, my programmer and I found a solution to that problem, and now have relaunched TimeCheeze with a cool interface that allows us to control the flow of content a bit better.  So, if you have a few seconds to spare, check it out, and if you would like to supply off the wall content to TimeCheeze, feel free to register for the site, as we NEED some contributing editors.  So, if you like funny and helpful... you might be the person we are looking for.

We also offer a Deal of the Day, every day at 12:01 am, just after midnight... so if you are up, check us out, as you will find some incredible deals there.

Im glad to be able to leave comments and emails again, so if I missed you in the past, rest assured, it was because of the bug, not me just ignoring you.

Hope all is well, and look forward to seeing your success!

-Much Love

What is Your Perfect Morning Ritual? Lets OWN Our Mornings.
Category: Life

Waking up in Morning Ritual

Cultivate Greatness - The Perfect Morning Ritual - ADD YOUR COMMENTS!"

Ok, Seems like we have been talking about it for years.  Seriously.  What is the best morning ritual in which to start your day?  What would be the perfect way to wake up each morning?  The optimal way to start your day.

Do we get up at the ass-crack of dawn and abide by Benjimin Franklins most known mantra, 'Early to Bed, Early to Rise... Makes a man healthy, weathly and wise.'

Well, damn.  I want all three of those things.  I want to be able to live optimally, in a peak state and secure my goals and live the life I have always dreamed about.  Sure.  Tell me more.  But I tell ya... Its a hard thing to define.

And for some, myself at the top of the list, Waking up early in the Morning is my master.  Mornings own my ass.  My head, in the past, does not want to wake up from the sleep funk. heh.  That is no lie.

So, for me, it seems that I have always known that getting up early in the morning is the way to go.   And it seems that I have never listened to reason, and begin waking up early.

Action Step:  Get a pen and paper... step AWAY from the keyboard and define your perfect morning ritual.   Do this by asking yourself optimal questions.  Instead of disencouraging statements to yourself, during self-talk...  ask optimized questions.  Ask and it is Given.

Write down what would make you most happy in the morning.  What would happen?  How would your morning be?  What song would your radio alarm play to start your day?  And maybe, if you heard more music to start your day... would you feel better immediately?  Think of that!

Questions to Ask yourself on How to Wake in the Morning and create your perfect morning ritual.

How can I wake up early EVERYDAY!

What is the BEST Way to wake in the morning?

How can I FEEL GREAT in the Morning?

What could I do that feel AWESOME in the Morning?

If you ask yourself these type of questions. You can customize your day, everyday... starting from the get-go.

So, if I were to ever follow through and enjoy the perfect morning.  It would go something like this.

  1. Wake up to the Tom Petty Song, "I Won't Back Down"

  2.
  3. Then immediately save three dollars in the Million Dollar Savings Club, $1 Investing Pile - $1 Savings Pile - $1 Charity Pile

  4.
  5. Brush My Teeth!  Take care of your smile.  Take care of your tongue.  Take care of your health.  Take care of your life....

  6.
  7. Go take a nap

  8. Just kidding on the last one.  I want you to define your own perfect morning schedule.

Perhaps you want to go for a run or for a walk first thing?  Perhaps sitting in a chill place with a cup of coffee and complete silence might make a morning companion.  Java and Meditation.  Can they coexist?  heh.  Im not a big coffee fan, but I know there are legions of people out there, loving them some coffee.

Maybe you have some fresh coffee brewing by an alarm and you wake to the smell of fresh coffee in the morning?

Perhaps you have a ritual of taking your dog for a run/walk first thing in the morning.  Maybe you should get up at 5am and start your morning like Personal Development Blogger, Steve Pavlina does... in his article "How to Become an Early Riser".

Many of the members of his forum are also getting up at 5am.  I tried getting up at 5am, and I just aint feelin' it yet.  So for me, I wake up still at the very last possible minute, and jump in shower... grab a quick bite to eat, either cereal or a local fast food breakfast.  And miss out on all the amazing great things that I could be doing to start my morning routine.

I do listen to Tom Petty in the morning though. That one is easy to do.  I just hear it 5 times each morning.  In fact, I think Im kind of sick of that song now.  Maybe I need a fresh song.  Ha Ha.

Damn you mornings!  Why must you make it so tough on us Night time people!

Anyway, if you want to create your perfect morning each morning, do so.  It will probably be one of the most rewarding things to conquer in your life.  If it is, let me know how it works out for you.

Please add some suggestions / blog comments to help us all form our perfect morning.  This is part of the reason I wrote this entry, was to have you guys HELP ME with ideas about waking up.  So feel free to shoot them our way, so we can share our ideas, and formulate our perfect custom morning ritual so we can have the BEST LIFE EVER!!

    :-p

Why be a Dreamer?
Category: Friends

Hey all, this is an article that I found today which kind of fit the moment.  I also wrote a blog pertaining to this on my site CultivateGreatness.com

Hope all is well, and keep on the path with your goals and dreams... and avoid those dastardly dream stealers!

Much Love-  Travis Wright

There are two paths to follow in life. One is the path of the Dreamer, and the other is the path of the Dream Stealer. Which path are you following through life?

We all start out as dreamers! As little children we all have dreams of being something magic, perhaps a space adventurer or a princess, maybe a dragon slayer or even president some day. But life has a way of setting limits on our hopes, dreams and aspirations.

As we go through life most of us learn that trying
something and failing equals pain! Our parents, teachers and peers don't want us achieving goals or dreams that are to big. Your success makes others around you un-comfortable so they try and hold you back. In their mind they only have your best interests at heart.

Dream stealers are all around you. Be careful with whom you spend your time - by the power of association, that we become. In order to realize your full potential in life you must develop the ability to turn your back on well-meaning dream stealers, and pursue your dreams.

If you don't pursue your own dreams in life, then you will wind up working for someone else's dream!

It's time to activate your Dream Machine.

Where do your dreams come from? Dreams are formulated in your imagination. It starts out as thoughts, maybe even day dreams. The more you think about it the more excited you become about the possibilities your dream has and the potential impact on the lives of others.

Capture that excitement on paper. Make it a habit of dreaming on paper. Place no limits on what's possible for you in your life. Think big! Expand your view of what you can do on a massive scale. Stimulate your imagination, seek advice and help from others and have faith in your own unique capacity to achieve greatness. Why not you?

Decide today that you are going to follow the path of the dreamers.

Take a look around you today. Everywhere you look you will see the end result of someone else's dream fullfilled. When you switch on the lights in your home take a moment to consider where life would be without Edison and his dream. When you get in your car remember you would still be riding a horse if not for the dreams of people like Henry Ford.

People with big dreams and active imaginations propell the world forward and make major contributions to the lives of millions. Again I ask, Why not you?

Grab your Goals Magic System right now and start to
activate your Dream Machine. It's the first step to your better future and the only thing holding you back is you.

Choose to be a dreamer today, not a dream stealer!

October Growth - Personal, Financial, and Professional
Current mood: accomplished

by Travis Wright

October has been a great month.  In all facets of my life, I have noticed improvement.  In health, mind, spirit, relationships, and business.  I find myself becoming more focused with my eyes on the prize of life.  Regardless of whatever obstacles that I encounter, they are no match for the flow.  Fun thing is, the flow is just state of mind.

For one, at the first of the month, I left a position with a Fortune 500 company, that I couldnt stand.  It was stunting my professional and personal growth.  So, I sent out into the universe the thought of creating a position for myself that will move me along the path of personal development, one that will help me with my book and public speaking career.  Voila! I scored a dream position with a computer training institute here in Kansas City as a Technical Trainer.  I will work about 2.5 weeks a month teaching students on Adobe and Macromedia products.  My public speaking career has begun. This is exciting.  This stuff works.

Next, I finally started to monetize some sites online and see what kind of money can be made with affiliate programs and pay for click programs.  So, I implemented quite a few ads on CultivateGreatness.com to see what is possible.  Well, off of this site alone, between cj.com and Google's Adsense, I made over $600 this month.  Wow.  So, I figure this money that came in... need to use it for more promotional work to get the sites out in front of as many people as possible.

Also, had a great month with the kiddos and the wifey.  My wife wanted to start a daycare in our new home, in fact, we actually purchased this house with having a daycare in mind.  Well, she got her first daycare client this month!  So, my wife is feeling successful.  My son, who is turned 5 this month, and I enjoyed watching the World Series together.  Sure, I didnt care about the Tigers or the Cardinals.  Well, since Im from KC, we naturally do NOT like the Cardinals, but this is beside the point.  My son's Aunt 'Wee' and Uncle 'Hank' live in St. Louis, [wife's side of family] and last year we went to see a St. Louis Cardinal game in the Old Busch Stadium... so my son, has a second favorite team.  The Cardinals.  Ugh.  All I have to say to that is, Don Denkinger.  heh.

Well, as much as it pained me, I didn't rain on the parade pertaining to my son enjoying the Cardinals win the Series.  In fact, I made a point to let him stay up and watch all of the 5th and deciding game.  He got to watch the celebrations, and the trophies being awarded.  My son was loving it, as he loves baseball.  I was loving it, because I could see the twinkle in his eye.

"Dad, someday I'm gonna win the World Series."  he confidently stated.

I replied to him "Son, that is the great thing about life, if you want something bad enough, and believe that you can do it... then you WILL do it.  You just gotta believe it, bro.  And I believe that you can do, whatever you decide to do."

"I love you, Dad.  You are the best dad in the whole world."

Wow.  You can't ask for a bigger compliment than that from your son.  Im blessed.  I have a wife who is becoming successful in her chosen path, who loves me.  A 9 month baby girl who is nothing but smiles and delight and a son, who thinks Im the best dad in the whole world.  Can't ask for more than that.

Plus, factor in that I now have 140 members subscribed to the Napoleon Hill Podcast on CultivateGreatness.com, but I also had 42 article submissions to the site this week.  And 6 hundy to the CG Revenue Stream.  Considering this site launched on August 12th, 2006.   That aint bad.

So, personally, financially, and professionally this was a good month.  Goals appear closer.  The mornings seem a bit more cheery.  The days are a bit more fun.  And above all, I have gratitude that helps me appreciate it all.

Much Love to all of you!

Successfully,

Travis Wright

Getting Rid of the "Pink Panther Rain Cloud" of Doubt
Current mood: chipper
Category: Life

by Travis Wright

pink panther
Do you remember the old Pink Panther cartoon where he would walk around all sad and the rain cloud would follow him everywhere?  Anywhere he would walk, that rain cloud would only rain on him.  Do you ever feel like that?

I liken this rain cloud of the Pink Panther as our own personal 'Rain Cloud of Doubt'.  Doubt can get the best of you and leave you in a state of insecurity.  Sometimes its difficult to get rid of that doubt and lack of confidence, however with a new technique, perhaps you can overcome this and move forward with strength and belief in your ability to conquer whatever is in your path.

What is Doubt anyway?  Is it fear of failure?  Is it fear of not being accepted by others?

doubt /da?t/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dout]
–verb (used with object)
1.    to be uncertain about; consider questionable or unlikely; hesitate to believe.
2.    to distrust.
3.    Archaic. to fear; be apprehensive about.
–verb (used without object)

Maybe you are terrified of speaking in front of others?  Well, I do this everyday at my job teaching technical training to students who are wanting to become web developers and graphic designers.  I got up in front of hundreds of people in the 90's when I did stand up comedy.  And Im still alive, no mob of people attacked me due to my performance on the stage or with my presentation.

Are we worried about what other people think about us?  Well, if I go and talk to 50 different people.  Well, those 50 different people are gonna have 50 different opinions about me.  I am unable to control how they feel about me, however, I can control how I feel about how they feel about me.  It is a conscious choice to not let others bring you down which sometimes triggers a feeling of doubt in your own abilities.

You have to confidence in yourself to make things happen, and that when you do them, you are confident that they are going to be done to the best of your ability.  Just have faith in yourself.

Okay, how can we rid doubt?  How can we eliminate the feeling of fear in any situation?  Well, first we have realize that it is all mental imagery anyway that is really laying the doubt on us.  So we need to change the visual pattern of doubt to visual image of total confidence.

Here is a method that I devised to get out of the feeling of doubt:

First, I imagine that I have a "Pink Panther Rain Cloud of Doubt" over my head, clouding my thoughts with a cloud of doubt.... it is right above my head, and somewhat over my eyes.  So, Im gonna take 3 breaths and 'vacuum' up this cloud of doubt by breathing it in, and imagining the doubt going through my body and OUT my belly button area in a lightning bolt!

On my first breath, I breathe in deeply and vacuum up about 1/3 of the cloud of doubt... maybe a bit more than 1/3 of the cloud.  I then breathe out and imagine it Shooting a rocket fast lightning bolt from my core.  I already begin to feel better after this step.

On the second breath, I breathe in deeply and capture about another 1/3 of the Rain Cloud of Doubt...  again, it shoots out my belly with a fierce lightning bolt of energy, which revitalizes my whole existence.

And on the Final breath, I breathe in and vacuum up the small remainder of the Doubt Cloud and exhale this doubt through my belly with the fierest lightning bolt that I can imagine.

By then, I am competely devoid of doubt, and I feel that I can accomplish anything at that very moment.  This works perfectly if you are getting ready to do something that you feel is very challenging and are a bit fearful of undertaking.

Try it out, its my gift to you.   Lets rid ourselves of unwanted doubt by visualizing it turning into unbelieveably powerful confident energy.

Much Love-

Travis Wright
