This Monday UWA will be announcing the return of a man who has not stepped foot in a UWA ring for almost two years. This competitor returns with one thing on his mind - revenge! He returns with the sole purpose of destroying a man who wronged him in the past. Find out how our March 28th event card is elevated to even greater heights as we announce this much anticipated match up. This Monday our site will also feature March’s second video update. On March 8th, the current UWA Tag Team Champions, Cheech and Cloudy, issued the challenge to "any tag team in the world." In less than forty-eight hours the UWA office was bombarded with emails and calls from tag teams from around the globe wanting their chance to dethrone the champions. Due to the overwhelming response, the UWA has decided that Cheech and Cloudy must defend their titles in the first ever UWA Four Corner Survival Match. Management has decided to grant the following teams their chance at tag gold:
The Blackout
After an impressive show stealing match on January 18th, The Blackout have once again proved why they are perhaps the greatest team to ever hold UWA gold. Fans in attendance unanimously proclaimed it 'match of the night'. The UWA has decided to once again give former champions, Joker and Sabian, the chance to re-capture the gold that has evaded them thus far.
The Ring Crew Express
The Ring Crew Express are perhaps the single most underrated tag team in the world today. The team of Dunn and Marcos have been competing as a tag team since the early inception of ROH. To date, The Ring Crew Express hold victories over some of the world's top teams in professional wrestling. On April 27, 2007 the Ring Crew Express shockingly defeated the Murder City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, granting them the chance to compete for UWA tag gold. On June 22, 2007, The Ring Crew express competed in a now classic battle against Up In Smoke. Their battle waged on for over thirty minutes, but in the end Up In Smoke would prove themselves as the superior tag team. Since that massive loss, the Ring Crew Express have wanted nothing more than to re-solidify themselves as one of the top teams in UWA.
Hallowicked and Gran Akuma
Hallowicked and Gran Akuma are perhaps two of the top wrestlers to come out of the Pennsylvania-based wrestling promotion, Pro Wrestling Chikara. Both men are no strangers to Cheech and Cloudy, as they have waged war on one another in the past. Hallowicked and Gran Akuma both specialize in the Lucha Libre wrestling style, but have more recently added a more Puroresu style to their arsenal, thus making them a deadly combination. As these two men prepare to make their long awaited UWA debut, they have only one thing on their minds - defeating the current UWA tag team champions and taking our belts back to their home promotion.
Without question this will be the biggest challenge to date for Cheech and Cloudy. The current champions are now faced with impossible odds as these three teams all prepare for battle. Will Up In Smoke have what it takes to retain their titles? If not, which team will emerge as the new champions? On March 28th, history will be made as, for the first time, the UWA hosts a Four Corner Survival tag team extravaganza.
After three long years of dedication, determination, and hard work, Dan Paysan has finally captured the gold he so long desired for. In an epic back and forth battle, Hiromi and Dan Paysan truly did push their bodies and souls to the limits. Both men wore their hearts on their sleeves as emotions ran high for over twenty gruelling minutes. The match began with an absolutely brilliant display of in-ring technical wizardry from both combatants. During one of Hiromi's offences a chant of Ultimo echoed from the crowd, a true compliment to Hiromi, who mimics his trainer's movements more so than any other man. As the battle waged on, both men took the fight to the floor in an effort to break one another down. After several near falls emotions ran high as Hiromi set Paysan up for his devastating top rope finisher. Paysan sensing that the end was near dug deep within his soul and countered with a huge top rope brain buster. Paysan, with a second wind, hit Hiromi with a devastating power bomb followed by his "Whop Drop" finisher, thus enabling him to finally score the unobtainable pin fall.
On behalf of UWA management we would like to thank Hiromi for representing our company and our title belt across the world. From his title win in May, Hiromi made thirteen successful defences in Mexico and Japan. Hiromi is the first UWA champion in our history to tour with his title belt outside of the UWA. "Hiromi lost the title with honour and pride on Friday night and we will never forget his efforts," said UWA owner, Osiris.
A new era has been ushered in by Dan Paysan, our new UWA Light Weight Champion. "Paysan will be a fighting champion and will unquestionably elevate the title to new heights," said UWA owner, Joe E Slick in a post show interview. Congratulations to Dan Paysan for accomplishing one of his long tern wrestling goals. The question now remains, who will be Paysan's first challenger? Will have to wait and see!
