I have been losing myself amongst the words of great poets and writers. I find comfort in books , some old favorites and new gems that I feel blessed to have stumbled upon. I want to start sharing some of what I am reading with you .
~ What a brilliant writer she was, her work leaves me speechless .~
Her Kind By Anne Sexton
I have gone out, a possessed witch, haunting the black air, braver at night; dreaming evil, I have done my hitch over the plain houses, light by light: lonely thing, twelve-fingered, out of mind. A woman like that is not a woman, quite. I have been her kind.
I have found the warm caves in the woods, filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, closets, silks, innumerable goods; fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves: whining, rearranging the disaligned. A woman like that is misunderstood. I have been her kind.
I have ridden in your cart, driver, waved my nude arms at villages going by, learning the last bright routes, survivor where your flames still bite my thigh and my ribs crack where your wheels wind. A woman like that is not ashamed to die. I have been her kind.
The Starry Night By Anne Sexton
That does not keep me from having a terrible need of—shall I say the word—religion. Then I got out at night to paint the stars. —Vincent Van Gogh in a letter to his brother
The town does not exist except where one black-haired tree slips up like a drowned woman into the hot sky. The town is silent. The night boils with eleven stars. Oh starry starry night! This is how I want to die.
It moves. They are all alive. Even the moon bulges in its orange irons to push children, like a god, from its eye. The old unseen serpent swallows up the stars. Oh starry starry night! This is how I want to die:
into that rushing beast of the night, sucked up by that great dragon, to split from my life with no flag, no belly, no cry.

Energy drained and now motionless, she recoils into the coal colored futon. Given to them after the previous had worn, it's just another bit of discomfort. Little padding and cold metal frame are the cell which she bides her time. Exhausted from doing absolutely nothing, every night ends the same. She plops onto couch and is swallowed whole. An audible sigh, the only clue to her bodily presence and her mind has drifted afar.

her eyes like the delta deep and dark muddied blue and black bubbling up with life that lies beneath tossing ,turning spilling out her current flooding those within reach
II
she stands in petticoat and new shiny shoes (gone now the grime and splinters from the mossy oaks she climbs with such skill her brothers envy) respectable and innocent her saffron hair braided by her mother
III
she's keen on him and proper girls don't chase the boys but she's not like other girls she's a rebel a bit tomboy , a bit proper standing in her new church dress with muddy knees from the riverbank where she plucked this toad for him all girls know boys love frogs and she's wanting to please him so
IV
her daydreams and delights she fancies in her families gazebo in the quiet she finds natures song singing from the Mississippi she waltzes and dreams of a time when she will hold his hand and he will come calling
V
her mother's garden she searches for a statement amongst the gardenias she spies the perfect prize solitary and ivory it screams beauty in her eyes divinity she picks it with great care this is after all her declaration she holds it warmly against her heart as she skips across the field towards his house
VI
her acting out lately has gotten her into a mess of trouble her mother says it's unbecoming to climb trees to bring home animals in ones pocket book to approach a boy that one has ones eye on so to her room she is sequestered she talks to her ragdoll explaining how terrible life is when we suffer for who we truly are or for those we love
VII
she hears him in the dusk he came and laid beneath her window braved bats and her father to just be near her now ,he spread out on the lawn sings songs just for her this , his declaration and her gift, his heart
We walk autumn's painted path Bare branches, candied leaves Return to mother underfoot Climb mossy hill You pull me to your side Point onward to red ledge That lay beneath We leap Across the silent stream Our attention drawn To stray dog Who crawls on belly Underneath wire fence That borders This hidden spot Where I hold your hand

in the time of darkness between goodnight kisses and morning piss moments owned by mattress huggers dreamers snorers wailing their throaty odes to God i am aware of my separation from the chosen and divine always spinning a weighted wheel convoluted and contradictory mind reeling levitating drifting off into multiple directions a multitude of grief and sins damned these eyelids open and cruelly i long to sleep blissfully ignorant
