Taking a break
Category: Life
Just a quick blog to explain why I'm having to take a break from shoots or performances until August.
I've been suffering a lot with my wisdom teeth over the past year and I've finally been given a date to have them removed. That's happening tommorrow, but I'm going to need a few weeks to recover from the operation and let the swelling go down.
I have done a lot of shoots recently though, so between now and August, there will still be loads of new photos going online!
I am taking bookings for dates after August 10th, so if you would like to book me as a model or a performer then please get in touch!

Luxor Lounge Review by Koops
Current mood: relaxed
Category: Parties and Nightlife
I absolutely loved performing at The Luxor Lounge in Hartlepool on Friday night and I was absolutely blown away by the lovely crowd reception that I got.
I enjoyed it so much that I thought I'd post up this lovely review of the night! I'm not mentioned by name in it, but it gives a good idea of the lovely atmosphere of the night as a whole. Enjoy!
Gig Review: Well, if you made it to the Studio, over in Hartlepool, you'll know what a hot an' sweaty night was had by all.
4 swell Burlesque performances by the Gals and a 4set(!) rippin' show by Hiccup Riot had the dancefloor packed an' polished good time.
Now let me get this straight: Middle Eastern, Techno-Industrial-Gothic, Polynesian and 'Cabaret' style dancers put on a captivatin' show of New/Old style Burlesque dances. Wow-Zah!
Hiccup Riot strummend an' twanged a Big Beat sound of Country, Rockabilly, Surf & Blue Beat numbers that had the dance floor buzzin' more times than not. Some tunes were familiar and some not so. That's always a good thang. It keeps the buzz, buzzin'!
Booze prices were fair, plenty of street parkin' at an easy to find venue that leant itself to the 'theatre' of the evening was a plus, plus, plus. Rockin' Fat Cat's http://www. myspace. com/rockinfatkat lined up to DJ a set of Rockabilly & Rhythm & Blues dance stormers come August the 2nd. when the Luxor Gals take to the floor again at The Studio http://www. studiohartlepool. com/. Dunno kno' which band are playin' but your gonna be reliably informed if you take a nix here: http://www. myspace. com/theluxorlounge
Hiccup Riot are currently huntin' new gigs and can be caught maxin',relaxin' an' playin' some B'Ball here: http://www. myspace. com/hiccupriot

Shedload Interview
Current mood: optimistic
1.What motivated you to adopt modelling as a career and what age did you decided 'that's what I want to do!'?
I think that modelling was something that I drifted into, rather than making a conscious decision. I was offered my first chance at modelling for a friend's company and I enjoyed it so much that I decided I wanted to pursue it. As for performing, I have always loved being onstage from a young age, but it wasn't until the end of 2007 that the idea of Cyberlesque was born and I began putting together routines and getting booked as a performer.
2.Who do you look to for inspiration and why?
The pin-ups from the 1950's have always fascinated me from a young age and I certainly think that they shaped my ideas on what I believe to be 'sexy.' I was also very inspired Morticia from the Addam's Family in the 1960's black and white television show, she was always so darkly beautiful. In terms of modern inspirations, I adore Dita Von Teese, as well as many fetish models, even though some of their work is far more extreme than what I do!
3. Do your family support your choice to model? Some of your shoots and performances can be quite racy. How do they feel about this?
My family are actually very supportive! As you can imagine, my mum prefers the more cutesy shots rather than the fetish photos, but despite her personal preferences, she's happy with what I do. I think on the whole they're happy that I'm doing something that I want to do.
4.Aside from modelling and performing what else occupies you time?
I'm studying for an English degree at Teesside ..:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />University, so a large amount of my time is spent reading and writing, but I absolutely love it! Other than that, I go to nightclubs, meet up with friends, see bands…I just generally lead a normal life!
5.What is it about the gothic/cyber culture so to speak, that intrigues you and do you intend for it always to form the bases of much of what you do career wise?
This is difficult for me to answer, but I've been involved in the alternative scene in some way since my early teens, so it is something that is a large part of my life. I suppose what originally appealed to me from both the goth and cyber scenes was the music, and from that I found the fashions, and being someone who has always loved to look striking, they certainly kept my interest. I think the alternative scene is also generally very friendly. I would definitely love for gothic and cyber culture to always be some part of what I do, since I feel that it's very much a part of who I am.
6.Have you always felt confident about your body and what are your thoughts on the size zero debate that is 'whip lashing' the world?
I have always been fortunate that I've always been relatively confident with my body and my looks. I've had insecurities growing up, like any woman, but never anything serious. The size zero fad is something that certainly worries me. I don't like the idea of models (and now many young women following their idols) developing eating disorders in order to reach such an unreasonable ideal. However, I do think that demonising skinny models does not help either, if someone does have an eating disorder, the last thing they need is public criticism.
7. Do you have any up and coming events that you would like to promote here?
There are a lot of things in the pipeline at moment! I'm working on organising new shoots with various photographers, some that I've worked with before, and some that are new to me. I've also got some exciting performance arrangements being discussed at the moment! As far as recent performances go, I'm performing at The Luxor Lounge in Hartlepool on Friday 6th June.
8.What do you envisage for your future?
I really don't know! I never imagined that I would get as far as I have with this career path. I would like to keep doing this for as long as people want to work with me and people are enjoying my photographs and performances!
9.Many thanks and is there anything that you would like to add?
It has been a pleasure. Thank you for the chance to answer some questions for you! *love and sparkles* Violet Magenta

Necromag Flaming Ace Review 28/03/08
Current mood: bouncy
Posted on April 1, 2008 in the Events category
Friday 28th at the Flaming Ace With a fair sized crowd and a more than slightly modest smattering of polka-dotted ladies, the second event since the Aces rebirth is upon us. With performances billed from Cyberlesque Performer Violet Magenta for the second time, and the oddly but aptly named funky things, I was Quite expectant, and judging by how full the venue had become, I wasn’t the only one. Before and between performers the DJ sets had stuck to their usual exemplary quality and what not. One thing of note about this was the heavy amount of Deathboy tracks that were being played, perhaps in line with the performance coming up less than a week away .
Somewhere in the queue to the bar a murmur was heard over the microphone. Curious that I was to miss the main event, I left quickly and saw a large amount of people heading outside, actually heading for the main event. Poi wielder extraordinare, Messier "Funky Things" had lured us all out to witness his skills, not with balls of U.V. fabric or flashing lights, but twirling burning staffs and great balls of fire met with riotous applause and the expert heckles of Ms Silver. In the end this awesome feat of fiery skill was as entertaining as the beauties we had all turned out to witness.
Shortly after midnight, Regular performer Madame Ghoulina took to the stage, announced by compare Mark as "Something Different", we were treated to part striptease, part musical performance, with the crowd all the while howling back to the tune of "back in the bussom".
As the evening drew to a close we saw the return of Ms Magenta. This time we see the Cyberlesque pioneer indulge in a whiplash, bind, torture and kill routine; combining the music of Suicide Commando with ruffles, pouting, nudity and handcuffs. An original performance fleshing out the twist on the genre she is trying to create. An interesting and alluring evening, with hopefully a few more funky things instore.

Necromag Article about The Flaming Ace!
Current mood: excited
Category: Parties and Nightlife
Posted on March 5, 2008 in the Events, Music, News category
On the whole the entire Necromag team enjoyed this event and seeing as we were both there we thought you aught to see both sides of the story. Welcome to our first dual authored blog.
From Girrable's Perspective: Well, well, well; Ladies everywhere. And a good proportion in the crowd. While some people may consider this kind of event to be a wholly masculine affair I assure those ladies were going wild as much as the testosterone fueled were. I was there from a little after the doors opened and the place was packed. People from all corners of Teesside were there, some expected, some not. From Eva Braun's first performance, an alluring rendition of "I've got you under my skin" The Festivities commenced.
Now, this was more than a musical number.. Eva, in her skull busted outfit, began to peel away her clothing and her skin. A performance she has come to describe as Gorlesque. In the recent promotional materials for the Flaming Ace the point was quite clearly made that "Things Are a Bit Different Now" and they are. The Aces is spreading its wings both from what kind of entertainments they provide and the very definition of what you can do in the the boundaries of burlesque.
Another way to push the definition comes from fellow performer, and second on the bill Violet Magenta, with her Cyberlesque. All pink, rubber/foam-tipped and luminescent. The performance itself was traditional burlesque with its flourishes coming in the costume and soundtrack.
The crowning moment of the night came when madame Ghoulina took to the stage and to her throne. Open faced razors, skewers through her very flesh and a bloodied naked frame were enough to bring many to their knees or maybe a tad more upright. for me the show was made with this very performance and I hope to see more of the sort in another show. And there will be another. One of the best moments of the night was discovering it wasn't to be a one off, with at least one more already on the Horizon. Details for which can be found on our events calendar and the official myspace.
From the Oxking's Perspective: I arrived at the beautiful Georgian just in time to catch the last few performances of the evening. It really is pointless describing the acts themselves, you have to be there to feel the vibe and the atmosphere which nights like this create. Eva Braun, Violet Magenta and Madam Ghoulina are all very beautiful women using their sexuality and raw power to put on shows that have EVERYONE's attention. This is what nights like this do, they give respect to everyone and everything alternative. The tagline for the Ace when it first started almost a year ago said "No room for bad attitudes or inhibitions", it's good to see that this still is the case. Say what you want about the North East, it's alternative scene is alive and well, nights like this are testament to that.
As for the new venue, I've been a Georgian lover since i was a wee mini mosher, so in my opinion the Ace is more welcome here than at Bianco's. The lack of dance floor proved a bit of a problem, but im sure that will be sorted in the coming weeks. Oh, did i forget to mention that the next Ace will be on 28th March. Necromag will keep you informed of the acts as and when they happen.

Mookychick Interview
Current mood: bouncy
A few months ago I did an interview with the online magazine Mookychick on 'How to become an alternative model.' Well, the interview is now online! To read it click here:
How to become an alternative model-Mookychick Interview
Or alternatively, if you're feeling lazy (and don't want to see quite as many pretty pictures!) read it here:
Mookychick helicoptered the fabulous Roswell Ivory, Anita De Bauch and Violet Magenta to a secret Swiss location for a summit meeting on how to become alternative models. We hope the time and effort these girls put into discussing the hows, do's and dont's of alternative modelling will help aspiring gals the world over...
What first steps did you take to get an alternative model's portfolio together?
Violet Magenta: Strangely, I don't have copies of the pictures from my first shoot. It was from a friend of a friend's photography project and I did it more as a favour so that he could get his work done, rather than to build up a portfolio for myself! Then a friend with a clothing company, Peacock Fancy, asked me to model her Burlesque costumes for her end of degree show. She paid me, which I didn't expect, and the photographer gave me a CD of all the pictures. I did that shoot and realised I loved it and had to do more! I think the most important thing has been to keep doing unpaid TFCD (Time in exchange for a CD of photographs) shoots so that my profile is constantly being updated even when paid work isn't available.
Anita De Bauch: I actually started modelling out of necessity more than anything else! I started an internet business called Cradle Falls when I was 18, selling custom made hairpieces made from multicoloured dreads, wool, plastic tubing and other crazy things. I couldn't afford to employ a model, or even purchase a mannequin head to do the modelling at that stage, so I modelled them myself and got my boyfriend to photograph me with my rather poor quality point-and-shoot digicam. I quickly noticed that the hairpieces in photos where I was trying to put some real feeling and a sense of mood into the photo seemed to sell better, so I practised trying to really model the hair, rather than just standing there with a wig on my head doing nothing! I guess in this way I got a practical crash course in alternative fashion/ hair modelling! If I didn't model well, I didn't sell anything, it was as simple as that! I learned the importance of clothes, pose, expression and makeup in contributing to a captivating image.
Anyway, the whole process really fascinated me, and eventually I borrowed a decent camera and got my boyfriend to shoot me up the side of a small mountain at 4am!- not to try to promote my business, but because I had a picture in my head of some images I wanted to create. They had a kind of "little girl lost in the wilderness" theme, I guess.
Roswell Ivory: I was approached at a festival by a talent scout, who asked me if I had modeled before. The agency he represented had a stand at the event, so I was introduced to some photographers there and had my first photoshoot the next day! After putting my profile on the agency website, I started getting work.
Who did you initially contact?
Anita De Bauch: I posted my photos online, then started contacting local photographers with my ideas to shoot on a TFP (Time For Photos) basis. After a while of doing this, and posting my photos online under the alias 'Chic Freak' (which I have since changed to Anita De Bauch), I started getting offers of paid work, so I just took it from there.
Who has given you alternative modelling work?
Roswell Ivory: I mainly work for alternative and fetish clothing designers, and occasionally work on art and photography projects with a local art school.
Anita De Bauch: Almost all of my paid work comes from photographers wishing to expand their portfolios, but I have also worked for Heavenly Corsets, Slipland, and a fetish website called Evil Magician, and walked at a fashion show for Cyber Spirit, Doll Obnoxia, EmeraldAngel, Heavenly Corsets, Hot Trash and Nocturnal Clothing. I've also appeared in Bizarre, Scarlet and Nectoxic magazines.
What kind of work have you done?
Anita De Bauch: Other than the fashion show, all my work so far has been photographic, from fashion to fetish, vintage lingerie to art nude, and beauty to bondage!
Roswell Ivory: I am mainly a fetish model, so I model a lot of shoes and latex clothing- creating some very edgy pictures in the process! I have also done some catalogue work and fashion shows (catwalk).
What is an alternative modelling shoot like?
Anita De Bauch: All shoots begin the same for me- four hours of getting ready before they start! A quick check list involves washing your hair, shaving off any hair you don't want the camera to see (for me, this always includes my eyebrows!), exfoliating and moisturising your whole body, and giving yourself a manicure and a pedicure. I also bleach my teeth before a shoot, as I'm a bit of a tea and coffee addict!
I then pack up all the clothes, lingerie, shoes, accessories, props, makeup and styling products that I think I'll need, usually along with directions to the shoot, a contact phone number in case I get held up, and a packed lunch!
Once at the shoot, I usually confirm what I'm doing with the photographer before doing my own hair and makeup, although sometimes I have someone to do this bit for me, which is always nice! The photographer and I then work together to try and create whatever images we are aiming for that day, which could be anything from high fashion to some cute cheesecake pin-ups. Modelling is a bit like acting in a silent movie, except you only have one frame to express yourself in instead of a piece of video footage! It requires constant, full concentration, which is why it can be so tiring, as well as the fact that you often need to hold awkward and uncomfortable poses for long periods of time without looking awkward and uncomfortable. It's all worth it for a great picture!
How much money do you get for being an alternative model? And how much do you spend on the process?
Anita De Bauch: I usually earn between £10 and £30 per hour, depending on exactly what I'm doing and how long the shoot lasts (I give discounts for longer shoots). This doesn't include preparation or travel time, though. I have also worked in exchange for clothes. I spend a LOT of money on modelling, probably more than I need to. As I so often do my own makeup, I like to have all professional quality makeup and brushes, and I need to keep myself in good quality toiletries and hair dye so I don't look a complete mess at shoots! I can also never resist buying fully fashioned stockings, high heeled shoes or retro lingerie and accessories, either! When I have an idea for a TFP shoot, I usually like to buy a completely new outfit for it, which is often at least partly custom made. If I spot something that I think could add a special touch to a photo, I can't say no to buying it!
Alternative modelling tips?
Violet Magenta: I think the best tip anyone can give is to be reliable and work hard. Also, you must be willing to work for free because it helps to build up your portfolio and also shows photographers that you're interested in creating something, not just making money. Finally, set your boundaries and stick to them. If you don't want to do a nude shoot, don't let anyone change your mind. You should work within your own comfort zone.
Roswell Ivory: I've always liked healthy food so my diet hasn't really changed, and I do karate anyway, but since starting modelling I make an effort to get more sleep!
Anita De Bauch: I tend to eat lightly and healthily, drink lots of green tea and do sit-ups, press-ups and leg-lift things in the days before a shoot, but other than that I don't really do anything special to look after myself!
Initial fears about what you were getting into and how you dealt with it?
Roswell Ivory: One photographer I worked with was also a hypnotist and put the make-up artist into a trance (she volunteered). That was probably the most surreal shoot I've ever been on! I have been lucky not to have had many dodgy experiences- if I have any doubts about the photographer, I don't shoot with them.
Violet Magenta: I think I was fortunate enough to have few initial fears because despite it being something I always wanted to try, I originally drifted into it. There is always that little bit of nervousness, though, when you meet a new photographer for the first time!
Anita De Bauch: I'm lucky in that I don't have any modelling-related horror stories to tell (yet!). The worst I have suffered at the hands of a photographer so far is rudeness. Most of the people I've worked with have been fabulous.
Helpful people and companies you met along the way?
Violet Magenta: First of all, Kat from Peacock Fancy deserves a big mention because it was modelling her clothes that gave me my first photographs for my portfolio. Alternativ Model Management is the agency that I'm with and being part of that agency just gave me such a huge confidence boost in my abilities. There are many photographers that have helped me, including Ken Jackson & Brian Johnson, who I did a lot of early shoots with, and Paul Wright, who I've done some really enjoyable work with and he took the picture I've included with this. Warren from Growling Clown Entertainment for allowing me to be part of his fetish fashion show, which was amazing! Also, I'd like to mention Tori from Deviant Hair, in particular, for all of her help. And of course, all of the people who take an interest, let me know what they think of my work, and post my banner up on their profiles or websites to help support me. All of you people are amazing!
Favourite things about alternative modelling?
Violet Magenta: I do a job where I either get to wear my own clothes, or model someone else's beautiful creations, and completely express myself! You can't get away with the same things in any 'normal' job as you can with modelling, there's a lot of freedom. I also get chance to meet a lot of interesting and amazing people.
Roswell Ivory: The fact that every working day is different, and knowing that you have helped to create a piece of art at the end of it. You also meet some fantastic people along the way.
Anita De Bauch: For me, the joys of modelling are in creating a beautiful, striking, fierce, unusual, artistic, challenging, cute, sexy and exciting images. I also love to travel and meet cool new people.
Worst things about alternative modelling?
Roswell Ivory: Having to be more careful about my appearance- i.e. not doing a karate class the day before a shoot so I don't get covered in bruises! It can also be quite stressful as modelling is a very competitive industry.
Violet Magenta: The only thing I can think of is that there can at times be a long wait between jobs.
Anita De Bauch: My life has been fairly pitfall-free so far, but from what I've heard from other people, I would suggest that the pitfalls for new models tend to be getting cheated out of money by scam "agencies", hit on by pervy "photographers" or getting themselves stuck in some sort of contract that limits their work too much. It always pays to be careful and do your research- if something seems too good to be true, it probably is! You also need to understand the concept of copyright, and that the images belong to the photographer and not you!
Plans for the future?
Violet Magenta: My main plan is just to continue to do more shoots, paid and TFCD, and try to build up an interesting and diverse portfolio. This is as much a hobby for me as a job, and whilst I'd love to be very successful at it, I'm not looking for fame. I'm happy just to keep on living the dream, because in many ways, that is what this used to be.
The alternative models featured in this interview:

Cyberlesque!
Category: Art and Photography
They're here! The new photos and the reason I've been so secretive:
May I present to you: Cyberlesque! Neo-Burlesque Performance with a Futuristic Twist!
This is going to be a series of shoots I'm working on, but it will also branch out into burlesque peformances as well!
The new photos in the album 'Cyberlesque' are promotional photos for one of my routines and there should be more in the very near future!
I've always had a strong interest in Burlesque and I've wanted to be a performer for as long as I can remember, but I never had that traditional look that a lot of performers have. Then I realised that I could mix two styles I love, Burlesque and Cyber, to create something hopefully quite unique.
My performances will be a mixture neon colours and stockings and heels, some may even have a fetish element to them. The music will range between EBM/Industrial and maybe even some trad goth. If I can create something fun and sexy to it, I'll use it.
The performances are still in their early stages of rehearsal at the moment, but if you would like me to perform at a particular night then let me know and we can get something arranged!
You'll no doubt hear more about Cyberlesque over the coming months, but don't worry, I'm still pursuing my other styles of modelling too!
I love you all!

New year = New blog!
Current mood: excited
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
I thought it would be a good opportunity to write a blog as a kind of update on my plans for the new year and to reflect on 2007.
2007 was an awesome year for my modelling! It started a little bit slow and I will admit that at times I did wonder whether it was worthwhile to keep on pushing and try to get shoots, but I'm so glad I did!
I've worked with some amazing photographers (you know who you are!) and managed to get some photographs that I'm really really pleased with. I was also lucky enough to be part of the House of the Golden Lotus fetish fashion show, where I not only had an amazing time, but I also got chance to prance around onstage wearing latex (and very little else!) and got to meet some lovely models and performers. I've also been featured twice in the Whitby Gazette and had a tiny picture printed in Bizarre Magazine.
I really feel that 2007 gave me a lot of exciting new opportunities and gave me chance to meet some amazing people.
So what's in store for 2008? Well, I already have some shoots that I'm in the process of organising, all the ideas are planned, it's just a case of pinning them down to exact dates. I also have a notebook full of shoot ideas that haven't yet been snapped up by anyone, so I'm still very much available to do many different kinds of TFCD shoots.
I would also like to try to get more paid work this year, but it's not something I'm going to worry too much about. TFCD work is always good for my portfolio and lots of fun to do.
I'm also going to be a Burlesque Go-Go dancer at House of the Golden Lotus on March 1st. I'm really looking forward to it and I hope to see as many of you there as possible. I will keep periodically posting the flier with all the details in bulletins between now and then, but if you want more details, just send me a message.
And finally, I'm hoping that this year will be my chance to launch a new idea that is something I really want to do. It will be performance based, but it's something quite unusual that I'm hoping you will enjoy. I don't want to give too many details away just yet, but watch this space because there will be a proper announcement pretty soon!
Happy New Year everyone! Keep an eye on this page for new stuff very soon. I love you all!

House of the Golden Lotus
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Art and Photography
Hello everyone!
I decided a bulletin wasn't enough to vent my excitement about last night at House of the Golden Lotus is Newcastle, so I thought I'd write a blog for you all as well.
We arrived at 7pm and Matt came down with me and waited around whilst I got ready for the run through. I must admit, I felt a little bit shy at first in the latex pencil skirt with just crosses of tape covering my modesty, but after a while I forgot I was half naked!
All of the other costumes were gorgeous too, though I was pleased to have got the one I did because I felt it best suited my style and personality.
I met lots of models: Lucy La Doll, Miss Delerium, Dystopia, Fanny Divine, Lola Pops, Dixie Licious and Giselle De Boursiere to name a few, as well as some of the Burlesque Dancers on that night. I was pleased to find that everyone was really lovely and down to earth and I had such a good time with them. [If any of you ladies are reading this and would like to do a shoot together, I would absolutely love to!]
The run through went pretty well and my boyfriend managed to get a few sneaky pictures despite being so far away:

We then waited around for quite a while, before the doors opened and things began!
The fetish fashion show went fantastically well. I was a little bit nervous having never done catwalk style modelling before, but I think the nerves helped me to strut even more confidently! The pictures from the actual fashion show are, of course, in my pictures under the 'House of the Golden Lotus' album.
After the fashion show, I got changed and enjoyed the rest of the night. The music was fun to dance to and all of the performances were fantastic! I even got brave and decided to keep the tape on my nipples and go bra-less for the rest of the night.
My boyfriend caught a picture of me trying to look innocent:

As well as the fashion show and brulesque acts, there was a freak tent with two fantastic ladies who got ready in the same dressing room as us and were really good fun.

Also, there was Kinkerella looking very sexy in stilts and a gas mask:

All in all, though, it was a fantastic night and I would definitely do it again. Thank you to everyone that was involved in organising it for making it such a good night and thank you to all the lovely people who came along to support me. I love you all!

Today’s shoot!
Current mood: cheerful

I thought I would let you all in on what I've been doing of late for those who take an interest. Today I had a location shoot with Paul Wright in Redcar and Saltburn and it was a fantastic day!
I hadn't really done much in the line of location shoots before, so it was a new experience and it was lots of fun exploring places in Redcar/Saltburn that I didn't even know existed!
It was a kind of futuristic, industrial wasteland themed shoot and the locations we visited for it were just perfect for the theme.
I should hopefully have the pictures soon for you all to see.
All in all, a super fun day!
*love and sparkles*
