"El Grito" is the last part of our "ElectroFlamenco" trilogy, made in 1994.
The ultimate synthesis of all the Von Magnet moods, colours and wanderings, El Grito is the most accomplished and the richest album ever created by the "historical" magnetic line up.
The re-release of this crucial album especially remasterised (check out the bonus mix of "Malhaya 1") is now presented with an original luxury digipack artwork as well as a booklet featuring lyrics + vintage photos.

"El Grito" or the last episode of an "Electro-Flamenco" trilogy. In 1994 the original members of Von Magnet (Flore Magnet, Lola Abraham, Erik Yaeger, Rosa Sanchez, Stocha, Sigmoon & Phil Von), achieved after eight years of wanderings (England, Spain, Holland & France) dedicated to multidisciplinary "performance" art, a discographic masterpiece… effervescent, hybrid, poetic & truly "telescopic".

The story of this record starts with an initiatic voyage in Aragon (in Calanda, the village of Luis Buñuel) during Easter Holly Week. The rumbling noise from hundreds of drums, recorded by the band, opens the trail of this "Yell". Then we enter the streets of Barcelona where Von Magnet was in action... Each theme of the album, based on different flamenco styles and rythms, brings a color, a layer, a mood, an accent which paints a panoramic landscape of all the band's influences.

Rich with all their artistic facets, all together intricately blending, "El Grito" represents the ultimate "magnetic" synthesis.

Here we find of course "flamenco", featuring friends from the London Peña (Jingle : guitars & Nuria : dance), but also oriental, "post-industrial" or "pre-electro" music, cinématographic references (Jean Cocteau), samplers, accoustic instruments (bouzouki, cello, clarinet, saxophone, accordeon, trumpet, percussions, etc.), arabic, english, french & spanish vocals, as well as theatrical atmospheres generated by the performers.

Produced by accomplice Norscq, mixed in London, this record presents the "troupe" at the top of its expression, its rage, its creativity and its passion.

Phil Von presents DEADLINE NOW

DEADLINE NOW..:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Music by Phil Von

for Persona & Von Magnet

For more than a year Flore Magnet & Phil Von have been writing and directing the performance "Deadline Now" for & with the company Persona in Santa Maria da Feira near Porto.

A "7 Sois, 7 Luas" production for the Imaginarius festival.

"DEADLINE NOW" is about "TIME", a contemporary sad tale, the story of people existing in one of our modern metropolis during 36 hours. They walk, they run, they work, they phone, they step, they dream, they stumble, they loop, they bug…

Yet we are witnessing the absurdity of their tasks, waiting for the appearance of signs of weaknesses, of tenderness, of love even of simple humanity.

Have you noticed lately how our perceptions of "time" have been accelerating ?

Have you felt that fear of not being properly connected ?

The necessity of "being available" at any moment…

The urgency of everything or "the everything urgent" syndrom.

Have you experienced yet the anxiety of inactiveness ?

As if "not doing anything" would mean "not existing" anymore !

Nowadays we are being linked to the whole world in a matter of seconds but somehow we have never been so lonely.

To portray the ambiance of such a modern "time dictature", the music of Phil Von strikes as purely urban, electronic, cold and ruled by a strict tempo code, the most common and the most famous : 120 beats per minute.

This pulse is the master, the implacable reality of a metronomic heartbeat which all the actors follow throughout the performance… The "Von Magnetic" choregraphic style will only appear as they stamp their feet "live" stubbornly… Untill they find through exhaustion and despair… the poetry, the freedom or the craziness towards a final exit to escape…

Stretching "time" down to a universal wave of silence.
