Ruins Terra!
This new anthology (ISBN 978-0-9785148-5-3) of Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy fiction is now available to buy from www.amazon.com, where you can read its reviews. Edited by Eric T Reynolds, and published by Hadley Rille Books, this collection brings together twenty-six international writers.
Featured amongst these stories is my own Seagull Inn, a ghost story set on Hilbre Island, which lies off the coast of West Kirby on the Wirral peninsula in Cheshire, England. When the tide goes out, people can walk over the exposed sands to the three islands, Little Eye, Middle Eye and Hilbre Island.
Take a look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/__Adele__ to see photos of Hilbre in the Wirral photo set. You can also view lots of picices of my pets, too. I do tend to photograph them rather a lot....!
(Re. that photo link, there should be a double underscore on either side of "Adele" - the Rich Text on this doesn't seem to be responding to that properly, so you may have to Copy & Paste it into your browser!)
Spanish Jones!
At 6,000 words, this is the longest short story I've ever written! Set on Hilbre Island, and written in three distinct parts, Spanish Jones is a fusion of local history and folklore. Pirates, witches and selkies clash in this story which has just been accepted for publication as part of an anthology to be edited by Raven Digitalis.
Raven is the author of Goth Craft: The Magickal Side of Dark Culture (Llewellyn, 2007) and the forthcoming Shadow Magick Compendium (Llewellyn, Sept. 2008). Visit his website at http://www.ravendigitalis.com/
A publication date for this anthology has yet to be announced. I'll keep you posted!
Old World Magic!
Located on the Wirral peninsula, most of Caldy Hill is covered in dense woodland. On its summit is a patch of purple moorland. The hill offers spectacular views along the River Dee and across into Wales. It is also home to the ancient faerie race, and a visit to her local New Age shop sets Tracy on a dangerous collision course with ancient magic!
This story has recently been accepted for inclusion in Ruins Metropolis, which will be edited by Eric T Reynolds and published by Hadley Rille Books. The release date has yet to be announced, but it will probably be early in 2008.
A Wirral Otherkin Trilogy
Available only from www.amazon.com as a download, A Wirral Otherkin Trilogy is starting to pick up a few reviews. Go take a look!
This trio of Dark Fantasy stories is set - yes, you guessed it! - on the Wirral peninsula. You're starting to see a pattern here, right?!!
Well, maybe if I was to add that Lydia and Rowan (who appear in Seagull Inn, from the Ruins Terra anthology) and Jason (who appears in The Club, from Dark of the Night: An anthology of shadows; Dark Moon Press 2006) all feature in the novel I'm currently writing, titled Rowan, as do the selkies... And that several of the characters who feature in Tamsin, (the finished novel that I'm currently thrusting beneath agents' noses) also feature in Rowan... Or that the Circle of Hands chatroom also features in Rowan... Then that picture should start to come into focus more clearly!
Dark of the Night: An anthology of shadows (ISBN 978-1-4303-0915-4) is still available on www.amazon.com, by the way.
