So what do you think about this season and why in the hell are they paying so much attention to Dempster?

Steroids
Category: Sports
There is so much in the news about Steroids right now that I am kind of confused. Not that this is news to anyone.
I was speaking with my friend Brody about what our opinions were on steroids. I have to admit I am pretty much for them, with the exception of a few that are not injury related.
I was reading up on how they work and what they do for you. It appears that a muscle injury requires a lot more than your natural bodies ability to recover from.
Now imagine your an outfielder and you have to throw a ball for a couple of hours a day for 162 games. This isn't just tossing the ball around but forcefully using your arm time and time again. Our bodies are not naturally prepared for that. I think the players taking care of their muscles is important and they should have access to steroids.
I also think it is bologna that the current generation of players are the only ones who have taken them, I am sure there was stuff out there for pain and injuries before.
I fund this website that you can buy steroids at and it explains what it is for as well as tells you if it will show up in a drug test. HCG Hormones HGH
I read why you should take them and I have to say I think that a body under as much stress as athletes are should be able to take it. I am not condoning cheating but I am not so ready to run out and burn the drugs.
I seriously would like to hear some opinion on this.

The DH - are they really baseball players?
Current mood: curiously annoyed
Category: curiously annoyed Sports
Nothing irritates me more in baseball then the DH. I have heard so many arguments for the DH: Why pay a pitcher all that money and risk an injury at bat or base running? The DH brings in fans
It is all blah blah blah if you ask me.
I do not think a DH should be inducted into coopers town, nor should any player there be allowed to have their record while they were a DH included in their accomplishments. The DH is a glorified cheater in my book. I don't think any one player on the field should have a free ride, you play – you bat. Nuff said.
My strong point of contention is Bonds. If he goes on to the AL as a DH and accumulates more home runs is that really an accomplishment in baseball or in batting? I think the AL has ripped off the sport of baseball and turned a part of it into Hollywood by having the DH.
Brett Head The DH is the #1 reason the American League will NEVER be as true-blue baseball as the National. It is called the Junior Circuit because it joined the Major Leagues after the National League was established. But I think the DH is evidence enough that it will always be the Junior Circuit in the AL...

Why People Became Cub's Fans
Current mood: Like a Cubbie
Category: Like a Cubbie Sports
Per my bulletin I asked how some people became cub's fans and here are some of the answers. It was very cool to get these stories and I would love to add more:
Da Bear reak #9 I grew up on the northside.....It wasnt called Wrigleyville then. Born and raised into the Cubbie world.
Josh: I was pretty much born a cubs fan I went to my first game in the early 80's back when Rick Sutcliff was still pitching and Lee Smith was there. Been to several games since. Went to my first opening day game this year it was the best time I've had yet at a game. I lived in Illinois most of my life moved out here to Kansas city 7 years ago so I don't get to go to as many games I want. Go to Royals game once in a while but they are boring and fans are not loyal.
Steve: Well, I was born and raised on the south side, so you'd think I'd be a Sox fan. Thankfully, I'm not. My brother used to take me on the L up to the games at Wrigley. Pretty much I was just born into it in that way
BrettHead: I lived at Pine Grove and Irving Park for a year, but was mostly in Lincoln Park area. There was nothing better than hitting an afternoon game, especially during the week!
I grew up in Arlington Heights - NW burbs. So naturally, I followed my Dad's lead and was born a Cubs fan. And yep, going to Wrigley makes it for life. I still remember getting autographs from guys like Rick Reuschul (sp?), Jerry Morales, and Jose Cardinal. Then when I got older, it was Billy Buckner and then on to Mark Grace and those teams in the 80s!
I still try to go back every couple years, but always catch one or two games when the Cubs come to Denver every year!
Julie: I grew up watching the Cubs in Chicago. My dad was a bit of a band-wagon jumper, and if the Sox were winning, he was a Sox fan. If the Cubs were winning... well, who are we kidding... Dad would also listen to the Cubs on the radio, while he was outside doing yardwork, washing cars, etc. because the Cubs have always had the best radio announcers, too! Anyway, Wrigley Field was closer/nicer, so we went to games every summer. I fell in love with Ryne Sandberg and Mark Grace. I thought they were my boyfriends and we would get married one day.
Then, when I moved to the East Coast, for college, I followed the cubs a little more, went to the Cubs/Phillies games, when they were in town. After I moved to NYC, I had season tix to the Mets, and when the Cubbies came in, I wanted to go to my 1st batting practice. While at batting practice, a couple of the cubs called me over, started talking to me, asked me out, took pics, gave autographs. It was awesome. From then on, I had a more personal interest in them, and fell in love with the game of Baseball. I also realized, by visiting different ballparks, how truly unique and amazing Wrigley is.
If I didn't have a career, I would live at Wrigley Field every summer. In the mean time, I live with Wrigley, my awesome dog.
Proud BU Alum: I became a Cubs fan in 1975/1976. I was about 7 or 8, and I got out of school at 3:15pm, got home at 3:30pm and the Cubs were still playing. I'd watch and became a fan.
I actually tried watching the White Sox but couldn't take it. Their uniforms were boring (I think this is when they wore those black and white uniforms with the shorts). They were on a boring station - channel 44 (known for showing Ultraman and Spectrman) and the games were boring.
I didn't become a Cubs fanatic until 1982, the summer before I started High School. A classmate was also a Cubs fan, so we spent our summer watching the games and talking about them on the phone.
It wasn't until 1982 that I developed a true dislike for Sox and Sox fans. Only because Sox fans felt the need to tease me constantly about being a Cubs fan. I didn't make fun of them, so why did they feel the need to bother me? - Why, because they suck.
Oh yeah, I grew up on the South side of Chicago and the majority of my family members are Sox fans. My mom claims to be a Cubs fan and tries to take credit for me being a Cubs fan. The reverse is more like it. She watches the Cubs because I do.
My daughter is also a Cubs fan. At first it mostly because that's all we watched. After the Sox won the series, the teasing of the Sox fans got on her nerves...and so the cycle repeats itself. :).
