Come Into My Time Zone

Come into my time zone
where the seconds tick
where mice don't squeak
but constantly click
where the seconds tick let me
WORM into your code
let me gently de-file you
through file-sharing mode
let me WORM into your code
I have been disconnected
I really rate your data and
respect it's write protected
I have been disconnected through
lack of activity
together we can re-start
and practice connectivity
through lack of activity my
connections have failed
some end bits were off and
my potential was curtailed.

Come into my time zone...

...I'm waiting for the writer...

My life came crashing down.
My memory is full
Of your hard drive
To virtuality.
You are my control.

ordered away to
assist the City's
evacuation,
we stayed,
and played,
and ate our blinis,
oblivious of the exodus
as secrecy exposed us
to our unseen half life.

And which layer of perception
Can I label 'real'?
I wonder if you wonder
If I wonder...
Here's eternity
Internally
And every passing glance
Becomes an infinite
Intimacy
Here's looking at you kid
Looking at me
Looking at you

Checkout Christmas; An Alien Perspective

Checkout Christmas

Christmas carols spill across the High Street
Drowning its chatter in brass.
On a slatted bench, a youth rattles a coke can,
(nearly empty),
clanking the metal of his knee.
From piles of rustling packs, a parcelling nomad,
Thrusting a handout, forces
Her small change into its ring-pull mouth.
He sips at heavy-metal
bubbles, and the brass band tunes into Chocolate Lane.

Rainbows chasing shoppers in the High Street.
And we must go home to make bread.


Dogs hound Christmas pigeons on the cobbles,
Feathering the scent.
Winter seas ring out the shells of beaches
And gong the hollow-cut cliffs.
December twangs the naked branches; caging
Starlings in the town.
Chill wind scrapes the blues from behind the clouds.
Sparrows squabble over
crumbs, and the brass band flows over jelly paths,

vibrating festive dreams among the children.
But we must return to bake bread.


Seasonal songs crackle in the food stores;
Wrapper consumers in sound.
Santa Claus is shaking tins for charities.
Tinsel splinters reason
As they pile the wire baskets high with plastic
celebrations. Wheeling
gift-wrapped poisons through the check-outs, the lemmings
prepare their gross feast,
and the brass band plays on their consciences.

We are searching roses in this desert.
We must have flour to make bread.
