This fortnight...
Current mood: weird
Category: Life

... has been an odd one.

My head's been all over the place and I'm pretty sure it's not settled yet.

Fuck knows what I'm trying to say here, I just felt the need to rant on and didn't want to post yet another stupid bulletin...

Bookage Materialia
Current mood: excited
Category: Writing and Poetry

Just finished The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss, one of the geniuii behind The League of Gentlemen.
Picked it up completely on a whim as the cover blurb description did it for me, and I suppose the Jasper Fforde quote didn't go amiss either.
Absolutely loved it, and straight away picked up his second, The Devil Wears Amber straight away, only to discover it was a signed copy, which is always nice. I'm part way through that, with:

Fat by Rob Grant
A Spot Of Bother by Mark Haddon
The Case Of The Missing Books and Mr Dixon Disappears, both by Ian Samson

all lined up to read next.

Today I picked up Alan Partridge: Every Ruddy Word: The Complete Scripts which I think is going to be my pub reading material.

Looooooooooooking forward to the future:

April - Don't Cry For Me Aberystwyth by Malcom Pryce - Ooooh :)
July - First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde - Ahhhh :D:D
July - The Da-da-di-da-da Code by Robert Rankin - Eeeeeeee :D:D:D

... I'm drinking what hopefully is my last alcoholic drink ever. If it's not then I have no will. Alcohol has been part of my life for the last 14 years. 14 years... that's longer than 99% of the frienships/relationships I have now. The only people I still know from back then are my immediate family and the man that will be my best man if I ever get hitched. That's over half of it that I've fucked up, that I've messed up, that I've wasted, forgotten and thrown up. From here on in, I'm in control and can do whatever I want with my life. Here's to the future....

Missing
Current mood: scared
Category: Parties and Nightlife

This is an official appeal to the general public for any help and information that they can give.

The incident occured during the early hours of Saturday 25th November 2006, within a branch of the popular drinking establishment 'Walkabout' in the city of Wolverhampton, England.

Philip Thomas, 26, currently of fixed abode within Wolverhampton though originally from the city of London, England, was enjoying a night out when the incident occured.

Missing from the individual is a period of time.

The hour between 2.30am and 3.30am which has been irresponsibly removed from his mind, without his permission. The hours before and after are thankfully still in his posession.

Where this hour went, is still unknown.

We have managed to piece together that during this time, the individual in question abruptly left the drinking establishment he was currently in with no notification to the people he was with; an act most uncommon.

His next appearance was an hour later, with something that vaguely resembled a 'burger' laying half-eaten on top of his toilet cistern, where his next memory begins.

If anyone within the local area saw, or knows anyone who saw, Philip Thomas, 26, within that hour could they please contact us immediately, either in person or anonymously.

Thank you.

Musical Musings
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Music

http://worlddumbination.blogspot.com/2006/11/musical-musings.html

This was originally a huge long-ass post about me not being able to pick my favourite song of all time, but in posting about it I've finally decided it's Bowie's Heroes.

I still wouldn't be able to narrow down a quantity to fit onto an 80min cd, but that'd definitely be the best track.

I mean, come on;

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be Heroes, just for one day

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be Heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day

I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes, just for one day

We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
Just for one day
We can be Heroes

Does everything it says on the tin....
