All Points In Between
Current mood: awake

Water, Fire, Wind, Earth

North, South, East, West

When you draw a star, how many points does it have?

What is the fifth point? Where does it point?

And what about a six pointed star?

We limit ourselves with the information gathered by our senses.

The Void exsists all around us.

Between your eyes and the screen on which you are viewing this.

Between the Earth and all other matter in the universe.

Between reason and no reason...

After you have emptied your glass (be it half full or half empty)

If I asked you what was now in your glass,

more than likely, you would respond "Nothing".

By identifying the contents of the empty glass as nothing,

and acknowledging that there is "nothing in it",

you have accepted that nothing is truly something.

Cup your hands together as if to fill them with water.

Look at your hands. What are you holding?

Nothing or Something? That is The Void.

It is the acceptance that perception of nothing,

is truly the acknowledgment of something.

This is another step in your journey.

I find it interesting that now people are studying what is now called 'dark matter'.

...The void between celestial bodies

Einstein theorized that matter, under the influence of gravity,

moves through space and time like a ball through water.

A displacement of space. A displacement of void.

In the throes of depression, or at that moment of enlightenment,

reason or no reason, you are something...

...there has always been something

...there always will be something

Quequay and the Locker

carnivors and antaganists

ever feeding off of oblivion

gorging and purging repeatedly

swallowing their tails

imploding inwards

consuming everything

consuming all

leaving nothing

not even memories remain

slashing and burning

destroying and dismembering

screaming voices call from the past

delivering the grim news from the future

Stepping Stones and Pruning Roses

once again, metaphorical lessons have presented themselves...

those of you who know me, or have been to the hideaway,

understand that most of the materials i use in the yard are recycled or reclaimed.

(or they are materials ive had ratpacked for _years_ )

recently, ive made some changes to the peagravel patio...

(beneath the the linden & maple trees, where the chimenea resides)

i had been using granite chips as pads for the two benches, and kings chair...

...for the wooden table i had been using brick

it donned on me that to tie the patio together,

i should replace the stones with more brick...

(the chimenea is terracota, and so are the bricks)

last year, when i installed the peagravel, i knew that it was highly likely

that i would be making changes...

removing the stones, and replacing them with brick was simple,

and took very little time to complete...

between the patio, and transplanting vinca minor,

i have almost completely removed the grass from the east end of the front yard...

...now i am focusing on removing it from the west end

so, now i have 16 new stepping stones...

the keys to placing stepping stones are the gate and the arc...

(the length of a persons step, and matching the exisiting natural curve of the yard)

its not as easy as just digging holes and placing the stones...

the stones are different shapes and sizes, spacial relationships are paramount.

furthermore, i needed to consider the gate of others, and not just my own...

this is not the first time i have taken on such a project,

so i do have a keen understanding of what needed to be done, and how to do it.

granted, there is a certain amount of artistry and time on the shovle involved,

but more importantly, its listening to the stones, and letting nature guide your decisions...

the path had always been there...

and the stones had always known where they would be placed...

...i however; did not see the path until the stone were placed

...and the stones were placed where i envisioned the path to be

considering my prior blunders with some of these same stones, i did not hurridly start to dig,

instead, i laid the stones on top of the ground and observed them over the course of two weeks.

(despites the good natured ribbing from friends and family)

'hey dad? shouldnt you plant these rocks in ground? someone could trip over them'

what i needed, was to be sure that every stone was where it should be,

and that each stone was positioned exactly right...

...complimenting its surroundings, and the other stones

i often found myself walking back and fourth on the stones,

watching my steps, feeling my steps...

i would then make minor tweaks to the stones that felt out of sorts,

tapping them slightly with my foot, moving them only millimeters, maybe centimeters at most.

digging came next.

following the shape of each stone, i carefully penetrated the ground,

allowing for varying depths depending on the thickness of each stone.

this process took less than an hour...

...and the path is done ...for now

if you've read thus far and are asking yourself  'is that it?'

then you have missed the lesson...

...and this time, i will not offer an explination

the second lesson will be much shorten in length, and much more apparent...

i wil have to continue this tomorrow...

ive caught a light sneeze and need to rest...

Ha’Pee-Ness

happiness and joy surround us on a daily basis...

sometimes its hard to see, and even harder to understand...

but it is there none the less...

...it always has been

regardless if you believe that things happen for a reason,

or if you believe they happen for no reason at all...

you are the master/mistress of your own destiny,

its your outlook, attitude, perception that guides you...

you can see the cup half full, half empty,

or you could be the one who peed in the cup...

it happens sometimes that we become ensnared in our own 'negative feedback loop'

when we become overwhelmed with what needs to be done,

what we would like to do, what we havent done yet, what we should be doing,

the stress and anxiety build and build until we can no longer function,

and despite the best intentions of friends, family, loved ones, and partners,

we may lash out at them with the angered stress weve created for ourselves...

...making them the enemy instead of ourselves

depression quickly settles in and completely dehabiltates us...

to the point that we can no longer function,  with the possible exception of work

something to distract us and focus our attention away from us,

and what we are not doing...

furthermore; we begin to hold in contempt those who are happy,

or we seek to tear them down to our level (whether intentionally or not)

how dare anyone be happy when i am miserable with myself!

at this point our inner anger and frustration becomes focused outward,

outward on those around us, inparticularly those who love us most...

...because, if they do love us, they will love us no matter what

...no matter how badly we treat them

...no matter how many times we focus the anger at ourselves onto them

...they will always love us, and be there for us

the unfortunate circumstance is, that we end up driving everyone away,

becoming alienated, isolated, and bitter...

how do we change this? who can save us?

how much longer or further can we run from ourselves,

until we catch-up with ourselves again?

how many times do we have to start new relationships because we've left the others in ashes?

how many times do we have to swear to ourselves that this time will be the last time?

the answers, and the ability to change are within you...

make a positive change to one small habit...

for example, open the blinds or the curtains every morning when you wake up,

and close them again before you go to bed...

this is not only a metaphor, but also a physical manifestation of greeting a new day,

...and letting in the light *

take a moment when youre out and about to notice nature,

look at the flora around you as you pass thru your day,

listen to the birds, hear their individual songs, and why they sing...

there is a war to be fought when we want or need to change our paradigm,

but we must win the battles first...

call or email and old friend and apologize for being out of touch,

clean your room or your kitchen, do some gardening,

go for a hike, turn the tv off, do a crossword...

... but these things should be done in small amounts at first,

just enough to make a difference for now...

what you will find is that now there is one less thing that needs to be done,

and as these small accomplishments are made,

and as you slowly begin to 'clean your house',

there will more time to accomplish other things, bigger things...

and along the way you my notice the moments of self-reflection increase,

and answers to questions begin to make themselves apparent...

as the weeks and months pass (this is a long term project mind you)

the battles you fight for and with yourself grow, as you grow in strength...

and soon you will sitting down to write that book, or go back to school,

or find yourself with the renewed ability to have those things that youve always wanted...

your relationships with friend, family and loved ones will strength,

and the people you have always held dearest and nearest to you will be there for you...

change is difficult, and the universe has a sick sense of humor when it comes to testing us...

the path has always been there,

whether or not we choose to see it or follow it,

is up to us...

...but you have to want to change

we are all strong enough to take the first step,

and we grow stronger with every step we take

Red Moon Yellow Pad

(please see pics album 'red moon yellow pad')

Written in late 06 early 07. The same pad contains an early version of

the lyrics to the song 'Falling'. (which i did not include)

I went through a period of not writing which lasted almost an entire year.

It has been only relatively recently that I have begun writing again.

Some of these pages may appear to be the aspirations of a broken heart,

however; they are really a way of letting go. An epitaph to dead love.

The last breath, and an end to the maddness from events which unfolded nearly

three years ago.
