UGLY BETTY is Back!
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Hi--just a quick reminder that UGLY BETTY, starring WTC VIEW lead actor Michael Urie as the uber-fabulous "Marc", begins its much anticipated second season this Thursday, 9/27/07. The show airs on ABC starting at 8PM, right before GREY'S ANATOMY and, if you miss the broadcast, is viewable at ABC.com the next day. Michael's role on the show will be growing with some new and bizzare plot twists and turns, as is the show's speciality. So check it out!

WTC View--Best of '06
Current mood: cheerful

Yeah--I know i'm a little late in posting this but WTC VIEW was named one of the Top 10 LGBT films of 2006 by Pride On Screen, a great movie review site run by Steve Pride. We're in good company too, with some of my personal faves like SHORTBUS and HISTORY BOYS. Anyway, I just saw him in LA a couple weeks ago as he interviewed me and Phillip Himberg about the book GIRLS WHO LIKE BOYS for the syndicated radio show/podcast THIS WAY OUT. Also, here's a link to the original WTC interview which aired on the syndicated radio show THIS WAY OUT last year....in it I talk a lot about the origins of the film and how it's a departure from the typical 9/11 narratives that are out there. Thanks for listening :)

More UGLY BETTY news...

ABC has just picked up UGLY BETTY for a full season of 22 episodes....making it the first new show of the 06' TV season to get the network vote of confidence.  And it's the most watched new program this fall!  So congrats to WTC star Michael Urie and the rest of the awesome cast of BETTY. It's my new favorite show (with FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS a close second) so check it out--Thursdays @8pm on ABC.

Website Updates for October

Hi everyone--just made some updates to www.briansloan.com, adding some great new reviews of my book TALE OF TWO SUMMERS. Also, I've created a whole new section to the site with info on my first feature, I THINK I DO (which people are always asking about from it's airings on LOGO all the time). It's actually the original ITID website from when the film was released a few years back--props to Patrick Snee who did a great job desinging the site and putting it all together. So check it out---thanks for your support!

I just caught a preview on the TV GUIDE website which looks hysterical. The premiere of the show is this Thursday 9/28 @ 8PM. So if you're looking for some good new TV, check it out!

They NYT Sunday Arts/Leisure section had a nice listing/review of the film's premiere on LOGO. The website definitely peaked in terms of traffic post-broadcast as well. And I've been getting lots of emails about the film too...all very positive. Thanks for checking it out!

Genre Review and BETTY rescheduled

Genre Magazine has a review of WTC in it's September issue. We got a B and this nice quote: "In the wake of big 9/11 action movies, there's something artful and restrained in WTC VIEW's execution." I'm so glad that someone has finally called the previous studio efforts what they are--action films. For those who lived through 9/11 here in lower Manhattan, the one thing everyone would agree on is that life was no Bruce Willis movie.

In TV news, UGLY BETTY which stars WTC lead Michael Urie has received a big vote of confidence over at ABC. The network has moved the premiere of the show later in the month to the more traditional new season week and they've also changed the time slot, giving it a prime piece of broadcast real estate--Thursday at 8PM, just before GREY'S ANATOMY. So be sure to check out the first episode, now airing on September 28th @ 8. And congrats to Michael!
