"THE LEGEND OF YETI GONZALES" Track Rundown
Current mood: bitchy
Category: Music

Here's a mini-rundown of the tracks.  Just about all the instruments were tracked together live, except for trumpets, whistles and piano, onto our tape recorder.

1. OBVIOUSLY

Jangle-jangle.  This is the jangliest song possible.

2. DON'T GO BACK TO THE ONE YOU LOVE

"Turn the lights out, shut the window, burn your old clothes, don't use the telephone...Steal the next car, drive to Mexico."   Windy drama from the Mexican border.  Listen out for Graham's whistling.  Video's on Youtube.

3. TIL THE WEEKEND COMES

The Anti-Weekend song.  All these hip bands wanna big up and brag about their weekends.  Buffoons!  Anyway, isn't Wednesday the new Friday?  Is the Pope black?

4. MERRY GO ROUND

"Me I'm just a stranger, but here they know my name.
Paid to see the madman in a shiny cage."
Tales from the Van, as they say.

5. IN LIKE WITH YOU

"True baby true, I'm in like with you, but don't ask me if I love you 'cos I wouldn't want to lie to you."
The Anti-Love song.  As in the feeling, not the band (the good one, not The Feeling).

6. SHANE MACGOWAN

Roots music with a legendary title.  Texan-esque ELO ending.

7. MIDNIGHT FLIGHT

"I wake up in the morning and I think it's just a dream
But then I see the bodies on my tiny TV screen
I put my bloodstained clothing in my washing machine
And it cleanses my senses of the horrors that they've seen."
>:->

8. JERMYN GIRLS

"There's no coming down - not when you get so high
You see the Jermyn Girls - live in a distant world."
True story.  If someone offers you drugs on Greek Street, Soho, it's gonna be a tissue ball.

9. NEVER LOSE YOUR SENSE OF WONDER

One day this song will be in an ad for some fizzy drink or chewing gum in a foreign country.  Preferably Brazil, so we can use the Portuguese samba version.

10. REPRISE

Part 2 of Track 2.  Yeti goes semi-prog.  It's what happens if you let the tape run.

11. CAN'T PRETEND

This is the summer in the basement song.  Recorded at 4am.  And it's in Mono!

12. SISTER SISTER

"Hold on tighter to the friends that you made in the life that you once knew."

13. THE LAST TIME YOU GO (6 FEET UNDER)

"Six feet underground, never to be found
This will be the last time that you go."
Don't mess with Yeti, okay?

14. WHO IS GONZALES

???  Buy the album and find out.  It's the one after 909.

Special Online Deal on Album
Current mood: aroused
Category: Music

FINALLY......our long-awaited debut album "The Legend Of Yeti Gonzales" - recorded at Eastcote Studios (the birthplace of our first single) 5 months ago - will be released on June 23.  For those bargain hunters out there, we have been tipped off by the ones in the know that HMV is doing a special deal on all online orders (click me).   More details and revelations on the album later, it's apparently being printed somewhere in France right now, which makes sense cos it's in French...

Meanwhile, our new video is now up on Youtube to be scrutinised with the whole world:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Huxuktj64T8&fmt=18

If you like it, forward it to your friends.  'Cos as you must have gathered by now, this band is really rubbish at PR.

love,
Yeti x

Ps: Remember that indie stores (Rough Trade, Cargo Records etc) tend to dispatch orders for small label bands like Yeti much quicker.

Don’t Go Back To The One You Love
Category: Life

Howdyall,

Our Brand new Single "Don't Go Back To The One You Love" will be released on 26th May*.

It will be available on Vinyl for those who like their music extra-retro, CD for those that like their music shiny and itunes for those that like their music to exist only in the ether.  The "hard copies" actually come out a week after the digi, so that's June 2nd for vinyl and CD.

Love and drunken fumbles
Yeti
x

*Our clever marketing people have decided to release the digi first so CDs and vinyls are out a week later on June 2.

Leg Three
Category: Religion and Philosophy

Q. What did the left leg say to the right leg?
A. Hey look, shorty's growing a beard

Yes with two legs down, we are off on Leg three on Tuesday starting with
Cardiff and ending in Southampton on the 12th

I did promise that Leg 2 would be more rock and roll than the first and I'm pleased to announce that we moderately succeeded in this respect.

Graham narrowly avoided arrest and was let off with a £40 fine for flouting 2 laws in public (Drinking and the opposite of drinking) He is a bit brassic at the mo and will accept any donations to help him pay this off

I smashed up a hotel room. The lounge in fact. I don't see the point in smashing up a bedroom if you have to sleep in it. Fortunately everyone else tidied it up and one of the Foxes reattached the table leg before the Night Porter noticed

Speaking of the Night Porter, I distracted him while the most criminal sneaky Fox, slipped into the bar and requisitioned some spirits.

Well done there!

So thats theiving, criminal damage, urination, drunk and disorderly ...oh, and I stole a bible too, though to be fair i did replace it with a Jehovah Witness pamphlet of a girl hugging a tiger in a highly suspect future, so it was probably more of a trade really

We're getting there, but still, we've not quite ticked every box. So, for the next Leg we're looking forward to the sex and drugs bit:

Cardiff, Exeter, Yeovil, Weymouth, Bristol, Brighton, Southampton

YETI NEEDS YOU

Leg Two
Category: Music

The second leg of our UK Tour kicks off this Thursday at the Birmingham Barfly,
where you can enjoy old favourites and fab new tracks off of our forthcoming longplayer "The Legend Of Yeti Gonzales", and maybe pick up a good-fitting Yeti Tee-Shirt too.

So far we've braved the floods of Wakefield, cried with laughter at Walk Hard, sampled various English cuisine (such as Pizza, Fajita's, King Prawn Chow Mein and Chicken Balti), left a hotel room ever so slightly untidy, discovered nobody seems to tear tickets at cinemas anymore, and narrowly avoided rear-ending a lorry, so try and catch us before we drown, grow fat, get arrested, or explode.

Things can only get more extreme.
A TV will pass through a window.
I swear.

All other dates can be found in our gig diary.

Support comes from the splendid "The Foxes" check them out in our top friends

YETI in Vogue and Men’s Non-No, Round Our Gaff etc
Category: Blogging

Hello,

The past month is yet another month where Yeti manages to feature in fashion mags and not music mags.  What are they trying to say to us?  This time it's Italian Vogue (Men's) and Mens Non-No (Japan's GQ).

For more Yeti news, check out our news page.

Also, thanks to all those who came to Round Our Gaff, and apologies to those who were turned away.  The floor wasn't the most sturdy, and if they allowed more people in the place would have collapsed (which would be a great PR stunt...not that we want anyone injured at a Yeti gig).  Special thanks to the lovely Barker Band and the organisers Katie, Heledd and Leslie.

bounds of love,
Yeti
