4 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies!
Current mood: bouncy
Category: Writing and Poetry
Review for Night Huntress available now at Bookstrand.com
Zach, an accountant who thought he could pull one over on Gunther, the mob boss. Unfortunately for him he is wrong, as Gunther's goons works him over for his conceit in thinking he could turn states evidence in. When a woman comes to his rescue, during the assault, the goons scream "vampire" and scrambles away, he however feels a sharp stabbing sensation in his neck, his only thought is - why? When Zach starts craving blood, which his friend Jerry supplies, he quickly realises that not only has he become a demon, but that he can still appear as a human and not become pale as his maker. Raven watches Zach from afar, as she has now condemned him to the same fate that she has been subjected to. Although she has been alone for the past century and after all this time, her one wish is for someone to love. The more she watches Zach, the greater her yearning for him becomes. Zach has vowed to put an end to Raven's life for making him into a demon. Will Zach be victorious over her or will she finally have the love she craves?
NIGHT HUNTRESS gives a unique perspective on vampires and their human like nature, with the main protagonist expression of guilt, very much heartfelt and heartbreaking to read. This is my first vampire novel in a long while, as they tend to be very much of the same thing, however, Ms. Lynn has renewed my faith and excitement in vampires and i will definitely be coming back for more.

How Does He Do It?
Category: Art and Photography
Last night my son came in and asked me to scan his drawing. I looked at it and thought how is he going to do anything with this on the computer. He had used colored pencil to fill it in. It needed serious work and I thought it was going to look a mess when he tried to work with it in photoshop. I had much to learn.
Here is the hand drawn character:

Then he sends me an email later with the subject line, I TOLD YOU! Lol. I opened it and he had emailed me the photoshop file. Here's the finished product.

Needless to say, he sat beside me teaching me his methods. Although don't expect me to be adding any pictures of my own up here anytime soon. Hahah.

It’s 12:24 am
Current mood: pensive
Category: Writing and Poetry
Lately, I haven’t been able to sleep much. And now that the kids are on spring break, I don’t know what day it is either. I know I’m tired when I can’t beat solitaire hand after hand. I lose and lose. Yet, I’m still staring at this computer.
I’ve been reading like a snail and writing even slower. No, I’ve written faster but not so happily. Maybe it’s a phase and will pass soon.
Today, I took my mother to see her brother in a rehabilitation place. He got up in the middle of the night and fell down the stairs. He had to have 10 stitches I think. He has alzheimer’s and has had several strokes. My mother’s other brother went with us, and he’s in the beginning stages of alzheimer’s too.My mother, the oldest, thank God is in her right mind. Yet, the whole experience broke my heart, especially sitting there seeing my uncle ask where his only child is and start to cry because he didn’t come to see him. This is someone who might not know his son tomorrow.
I can’t imagine what she feels knowing this could be her next year or even next month, and what I feel thinking it could be also. I’m just glad I was there for her. Afterward, my mother told me she could not express how much it meant to her for me to come and take her to see him.
Okay, I didn’t mean this post to be a downer, just thinking of it when I should be sleeping.

Cool Proverbs
Current mood: blissful
Category: Life
I have a paper due today and have to start by choosing a proverb to expand and compare to a certain writing. Anyway, in looking up proverbs, I found some interesting and thought-provoking ones.
"It is prosperity that gives us friends, adversity that proves them."
Oh my, do I prove my friends, taking them through all kinds of adversity. J/k. Lol.
"He who knows not and knows not he knows not: he is a fool - shun him. He who knows not and knows he knows not: he is simple - teach him. He who knows and knows not he knows: he is asleep - wake him. He who knows and knows he knows: he is wise - follow him."
This one feels like a tongue twister, but I like it. I had to start again to see what it was saying. I hope I’m not that first guy. Or maybe I’m the second because frequently I’m sleepy. Lol. I might be sleep now, writing this foolishness.
"Men’s skins have many colors, but human blood is always red."
Yes! Someone said this to me today actually. How interesting.
"If at first you do succeed, try something harder."
Wow, I thought I saw where that one was going. I like that! Do I want to do it. Not really.
I hope you enjoyed them. For more go to www.thinkexist.com.

I’ll Take Romance...So Sad
Current mood: bummed
Category: Writing and Poetry
I will stick with romance which I love the best. I raved about Charlaine Harris' vampire series and she does indeed write an interesting and riveting tale. But I'm primarily a romance fan.
I rushed out to drive an extra couple of miles to where I could find the second book in her series right away. While there, I picked up the third and fourth book. I saw that the vampire on the front had blond hair on one. I pleaded for it not to be Eric, that her character did not at some point break up with her boyfriend, who I had fallen in love with in book one.
Also, that was the case. In fact, I went on Charlaine's website to see if I could find out from future books that they got back to gether. I read a bit of the first chapter from her latest. There was a scene where the first boyfriend--the one I loved--had a new girlfriend.
I promptly closed the second book I had started on and pushed away all three. Now I'm sitting here depressed because I feel like I lost my boyfriend. Silly I know, but I love romance. That's just the bottom line. And while I love vampire stories and some mystery, I gotta have the romance with it. So I'm out of reading material.
If anyone knows of a vampire series that is primarily romance but also has some murder mystery tossed in, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll bury myself in some writing to get over my broken heart.

I Get the Dumb Award
Current mood: blissful
Category: Blogging
So our power went out and we, my kids and I, spent the evening at the library. I took the opportunity to pick up Charlaine Harris' "Dead Until Dark." It looks good so far.
When we came back, the power was on, but our Inernet wasn't working. So I called the net people and was told they wouldn't get here for two days. I thought I would die without my connectivity. So so cruel of them. They told me my modem was fried. So I ran out and bought another one on Thursday, determined to get back to production. Nope, didn't work.
Finally, feeling defeated, put my coat on and prepared to head out to the library again, this time to use their computer to do my homework. Right at the door, after I had turned the lock, I looked over to the space behind the TV. As soon as I did that, it flashed in my mind. The booster dealio. The thing that powers our reception to the point that we can get Internet on the second floor.
We had unplugged everything, fearful of a power surge that would kill our equipment, never plugging the booster back in. As soon as I plugged it in, my modem started working again. Course I had to spend more time getting my router to play nicely with my modem. But I could not believe the stupidity of suffering all that time for no reason.
Well at least I wasn't checking my email ever five seconds. I was actually working undisturbed for a while. Lesson learned, I guess.

I fell in love
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Writing and Poetry
I fell in love with Seth from my werewolf/vampire novella, Seth's Promise, the moment I wrote him into The Vampire's Surge. Lol. He was so dark and mysterious. He was my first venture into writing a werewolf hero, and I wondered just how wild he needed to be to show he's a "dog" while keeping him sexy. Well I must have done okay, because I still love him and readers have basically said they love the second in this series even more than the first.
But as dark and mysterious as Seth is he was still a wounded man, having committed some violent acts when still adjusting to the heightened emotions of the werewolf. He needed a strong woman to help him to heal, and he found that in Janae. But Janae's got her own issues. She's trying to create the formula that will allow those who are sensitive to sunlight to walk in the day. You can imagine how much the vampires want to get their hands on something like that. Just the hope of such a feat brings out the evil from the woodwork, and Seth has been assigned to protect this woman who's strong but innocent to the creatures of the night.

Excerpt from Seth’s Promise (ADULT)
Category: Writing and Poetry
Sitting there, washing her while she still trembled in my arms, I figured she wouldn't put up much of a fight. As I washed her hair with her favorite peach shampoo, I wondered how I'd simply hold her and not make love to her tonight. I didn't have to wonder at all. As I washed away the suds, she turned toward me, her brown eyes wide with innocence so sweet it was breaking my heart. She lifted her chin, parting her soft lips. It was a clear invitation that I was not about to refuse.
Our mouths connected in a kiss that sent me from mildly excited to brick hard, in nanoseconds. I slipped a hand along her belly, letting my baby finger graze the silken curls at her center. It was all I could do not to dip further beneath the warm water to her sweetness. Tracing a path to her earlobe and then on to her quivering shoulder was torment enough for now. I wanted to wait until we were in her bed before I completely took her, but from the flavor of Janae, it was becoming increasingly impossible to hold out.
She seemed to feel the same, "Take me now, Seth. I want to forget the horror of tonight and just get lost in your touch."
I captured her chin again to delve my tongue inside her delicious mouth before answering. "Woman, you're tempting me beyond my control. I don't let that happen often."
"Why fight it? You've been after me since you laid eyes on me." She managed a small smile. "It makes no sense to draw back now. I want you inside me right here, right now."
"Your bed would be better, softer, more comfortable."
She flipped around in the water, sloshing some over the sides, to kneel above me. Her lovely breasts bounced inches from my lips, which had an indescribable need to suckle on the rigid points. Her heated gaze dropped to my shaft and widened as if in awe. "Oh my God, Seth. How can you be so huge?"
I chuckled, feeling like the big bad wolf, "All the better to pleasure you, princess."
She covered my lips again, dragging her teeth over my skin, capturing my bottom lip in a nibble. "Then get that damn thing inside me now. I'm on fire."
Who was I to tell her no? I held my eager lover still long enough to reach for a glove in the back pocket of my jeans, then ripped the package open with my teeth. She bounced over me, impatient. "Sorry baby. I'm extremely fertile. I'm sure we're not ready to be parents just yet."
She stared at me. "How do you know you're so fertile?"
The glove in place, I curled fingers around her narrow waist and dragged her to me. "That's for another time. Now, come here and satisfy the wolf."

Seth’s So HOT!
Category: Writing and Poetry
When I stepped inside, the Village Knocker was overflowing with wall to wall bodies, all drinking and swaying to a blaring jukebox. I almost did an about face and went back home, but this particular bar was known to have some really hot white guys, my personal favorite—well those and the occasional Latino man. Squeezing through the crowd while scanning for the perfect candidate for my bed, was not easy. I was starting to sweat, and the fans overhead were doing little to cool me.
When I reached the bar, I ordered a light beer and pinched open a couple of buttons on my blouse. Fanning myself, I took another look around. At the end of the bar was a man wearing a cowboy hat, plaid shirt, jeans and—can you believe it—boots. His feet had to be flaming. But he was sexy, and the way he was eyeballing me, I figured I'd go over and feel him out.
"Hi there," I purred, sidling up to him. "Buy you a drink?"
His brown eyes drank me in from head to toe. "Uhn, uhn, uhn. Now, you know you're looking for one thing and one thing only in that getup," he quipped.
I laughed, striking a pose. "What this rag?" I teased him, putting a hand to my chest to call his attention to my breasts. I was very proud of my D cup boobs, and the coral lace of my blouse showed them up well. The guy's eyes were glued to stay. "I'm just here to get out of the house."
"I'll bet."
We'd just begun to get cozy, and he was looking like the one I was going to take home, when we were rudely interrupted.
"Just what do you think you're doing?" The voice was so close, I knew he'd nearly pressed his lips against my ear. Though annoying, it was somewhat necessary to be heard over the den.
I swung around to face Seth, and whatever control I felt I had over the sexy cowboy behind me, went right up into the whirling blades above my head. Eyes as cool and clear as the green in my shirt, long straight hair, dark as midnight, and a body that made me want to ride him until sunrise—that's what made up Seth Parker. I mean I'd seen all this the night before, but he got finer every time I laid eyes on him. Deciding to play it cool, I leaned an elbow on the counter. "I'm doing what grown up girls do. What are you doing? Following me?"
